Meet Our Massage Therapists
Tracey
Hey, I’m Tracey! I’m a 2014 graduate of the Medical Massage Program at Eastern Virginia Career College in Fredericksburg and have been practicing massage therapy at Stewart Family Chiropractic since 2015. I am fascinated by the human body and how all structures and systems work together to keep us moving and grooving. Fascia, the connective tissue that holds us together and gives us structure, is a specific interest of mine. When bound, it can limit range of motion causing pain and tightness. The challenge of finding the source of a client’s discomfort and providing relief through a variety of techniques to include but not limited to myofascial release, cupping, MET, stretching, deep tissue work and use of hot stones, is what I love about massage therapy. By utilizing a variety of techniques within a customized session tailored to a client’s specific needs, I can begin to help ease the discomfort in the most gentle but effective way as to not cause further inflammation. After our session, my goal is for you to leave my table feeling more relaxed, with less pain and increased range of motion. Being able to have direct contact with your doctor at the time of service is an added benefit of medical massage performed within a chiropractic office. As a therapist, it is great to have the ability to work with our doctors to provide you with the best care possible. When not saving the world from tension one muscle at a time, you can find me at my day job as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, eating tacos, listening to music while baking or cooking, reading and or enjoying the great outdoors. Thanks for taking the time to learn about me and I look forward to the opportunity to get to know you! See ya!
Shilo
Shilo has been practicing massage therapy since 2011 after graduating from A New Beginning School of Massage in Austin, Texas. Her approach to bodywork integrates Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Trigger Point style massage, myofascial cupping and sports stretching. She specializes in therapeutic massage with the intention of assisting the body’s ability to heal itself as well as teaching her clients to provide self-care to progressively reach a point of living without pain. While firm pressure is her strength, relaxation, comfort and healing are still the goal. Shilo enjoys working with clients to resolve chronic pain, headaches and other issues. By adjusting each massage to the individual client, she will provide a very specific massage for your needs.
Virginia
Yoga Instructor, Group Fitness Instructor, Medical Massage Therapist, and Personal Trainer. The human body is absolutely amazing! Our bodies are engineered for a wide variety of movement expression; when we are able to fully express and enjoy our movement, we more fully enjoy life. However, our job routines and unconscious posture habits can over time cause pain and inhibit our ability to move with ease. My goal as a therapist is to help my clients optimize their movement lifestyle through decreasing inflammation and pain, and increasing their range and freedom of motion. Each client and therefore therapy session is unique in order to address the client’s needs on that particular day and in light of their overall goals. I am trained in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy and Cupping, Sports Massage, Myofascial Release, Lymphatic Drainage Massage, and the treatment of things like Sciatica, Carpal Tunnel and Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. Communication is vital in establishing the best practices for each session; I encourage and value feedback from my clients.
Massage Therapy, Fitness, and Chiropractic have helped me recover from spinal surgery and live a virtually pain-free life. After graduating from the Medical Massage Program of Blue Cliff Career College in Mobile, AL, and having my own successful massage therapy business, the opportunity opened up for me to move back to my hometown and work for Stewart Family Chiropractic. Massage therapy and Chiropractic care are such complimentary modalities! We have a fantastic team and I am thankful for the opportunity to work with them as we serve our clients.
